I am not going to pretend that COVID etc did not take a toll on the energy here. I've been working steadily and dealing with some setbacks. but am committed to getting this website updated in September, but in the meantime, here is a quick post that I also shared on LinkedIn. I figure a small post is better than no post.
Preparing to support a really cool project and so digging back into evaluation theory/practice and reading/listening/watching Michael Patton on utilization-focused evaluation. In one of the talks I watched, he frames the question this way (paraphrasing),
"What don’t you know that if you did know would make a difference to what you do?"
This seems like such a simple question but it is one, I was rarely asked as a commissioner of evaluation services and I don't think I have ever asked it as an evaluator. Yet, with all the limits of time, budget, capacity etc. this strikes me as vital to know if we are going to co-create an evaluation that meets the users' needs. Adding it to the repertoire going forward!
