An Educator in the White House

I can't pretend this is the first or last post you will read on what it will mean for education in the United States to have Jill Biden as the first lady. I think many of us are thrilled to think that someone who has made teaching her life's work, someone who knows the challenges and the joys of this job is in that role.


But what made me want to cry and cheer when I listed to "Jill's husband" was when he used the word educator. Because in that one word is the acknowledgment of all the people in a school including the teachers, the related services providers, the support staff, and the administrators who educate, each and every day.


Let us hold on to that as we go forward.
